Meeks said students must keep phones in their book bag during the school day. “From the moment they walk in the door to the moment they walk out, if we see a phone, we take it, and then there are consequences for that,” she said. Principal of St. Francis Xavier Elementary School Mary Arledge also spoke about how students were taking in the first day. “So they were all very excited to see all their friends and get ready for a brand new school year.” And so that's kind of what we're going to instill in the students this year,” Arledge said.
