The newly appointed chairperson of the Vicksburg Usher Committee of Vicksburg-Warren County is looking for more volunteers to help the organization continue assisting churches, families and community events throughout the area. While ushers are often associated with greeting worshippers and collecting offerings during church services, Henderson said the group's work extends beyond the sanctuary. Members help direct guests, assist families during funerals, maintain order during services and provide support wherever they are needed. Members also assist with church gatherings and community events when requested. Henderson said she hopes to grow the group to 15 to 20 active members, allowing it to handle multiple events while also providing training for new volunteers.
