A veterinary practice with three theatres, a CT scanner, a cattery and dog kennels has been proposed for the former Marcher Sound radio studios in Gwersyllt. No new floorspace is proposed and the application states that no new building is involved. Under the proposed plan those spaces are given over to clinical use. Senior planning officer Matthew Phillips told the planning committee in April that the UDP is “the oldest development plan in Wales”. The council’s own published position is that the development plan for Wrexham comprises Future Wales: the national plan 2040 and the UDP, in that order of legal hierarchy.
