['Mark Frankhouse']
102.5/104.9 The Block - Southwest Michigan\'s #1 for R&B
We just passed the 59th anniversary of the Detroit riots, and one thing that gets lost to history is how professional wrestling helped calm a city down and how a legendary local promoter gave the local community a reason to celebrate instead of riot.
Ed Farhat is one of the most legendary, if not the most legendary, local promoters in Michigan for professional wrestling, identified and known publicly as The Sheik, and he did something for the community that is often forgotten because of the damage that was done during the Detroit riots.

It’s important to note that The Sheik did not lose many matches at all.
As he saw it, what could help heal the City of Detroit more, than this small gesture of taking the fall and crowning a new champion?
