The Fort Adams Trust and the Museum of Newport Irish History will present a free public lecture on the Irish and Irish-American role in the American Revolution at Fort Adams on Sunday, Aug. 16. “From Revolution to Ramparts: Irish and Irish-American Influence on the American Revolution and Fort Adams” features historian Christian McBurney, author of ten books — six on the Revolution — and publisher and editor-in-chief of Small State, Big History, an online publication devoted to Rhode Island history. The program focuses on Rhode Island and Fort Adams, connecting Revolutionary-era history to the laborers, soldiers and craftsmen who built both the nation and the fort. The event is supported by a grant from the Rhode Island Semiquincentennial Commission as part of the RI250 commemoration. The Museum of Newport Irish History is marking its 30th anniversary this year.
