Heavy rains and increased upstream water storage in China have caused sudden flooding in northern Thailand. Emergency response teams are closely monitoring the vulnerable border areas near neighboring Laos. The Jinghong Dam in China has reached its highest water storage level in months. Surprisingly, this is the highest water storage level seen in the past several months. In Chiang Saen, the river water level jumped dramatically in just over a single week.
