(Emily Rogers)Bend’s Asian market Tomi Mart held its fourth-annual ramen eating contest Saturday at its second matsuri celebrating the people, flavors and traditions of Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities. “Matsuri” translates to a festival or celebration and it was the largest community event hosted by Tomi Mart owners Natasha Dempsey and Jesi Scott. Dhillon came to Bend from Singapore and started Tekka Tiger in 2025 as a tribute to the vibrant flavors of Southeast Asian street food she grew up eating.
