The Carson City Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with regional law enforcement agencies, has announced a high-visibility traffic enforcement campaign aimed at reducing distracted driving from now until the end of August. According to NHTSA, in 2024, there were 3,208 people killed and more than 315,000 people injured in traffic crashes involving distracted drivers. Distracted driving isn’t just texting, scrolling through social media or messaging while driving is distracted driving too. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will continue to enforce traffic safety laws and educate the public year-round as part of their commitment to reduce accidents and save lives. Whether you’re the driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to make safety on our roadways their top priority.
