A 900-foot airstrip at the home of BETA founder Kyle Clark in Lincoln seen on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Now, after years of opposition, the application lies in the hands of the Vermont Transportation Board, the final step in the approval process. A spokesperson for the Clarks emphasized that there is no safety issue with the airstrip, pointing to state transportation agency and FAA inspections. Now that the FAA denied the neighbors’ petition to reconsider its determination, the state transportation board, a quasi-judicial board, will ultimately rule on the airstrip. While the current state transportation board declined to comment on the ongoing case, former executive secretary of the board John Zicconi addressed the issue of private airstrips in a 2021 letter to municipalities.
