Monday morning update: The Evanston area remains under a hazardous weather outlook Monday, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening and an elevated thunderstorm risk on Tuesday. The area is at elevated flooding risk for the next several days. An earlier news release from the City of Evanston follows:The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Evanston and most of the Chicago area for Sunday, Aug. 9, into Monday, with severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected in the area. City of Evanston forestry staff are on alert and prepared to respond to storm-related damage, according to a city press release. Residents are encouraged to postpone showers and baths when possible, flush toilets only when necessary and wait until after the storm passes to run dishwashers and washing machines.
