Firearm, ammo found during police drug eradication exercise in Upper Berbice River(Kaieteur News) Police ranks conducting a drug eradication exercise in Bartica Village, Upper Berbice River, on Thursday discovered a 12-gauge shotgun and six matching cartridges at a makeshift camp. The exercise was conducted between 6:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and was led by a gazetted officer. According to police, ranks located a field measuring approximately two acres, where close to 5,000 suspected cannabis plants were found. During a search of a makeshift camp measuring approximately 10 feet by 10 feet, ranks discovered a 12-gauge shotgun and six matching cartridges. The firearm and ammunition were taken to the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam, where they were lodged.
