'Deep Concern' Raised As Lollipop People Report Abuse While On Duty

130 incidents were reported by school wardens or lollipop poeople while at work since January 2024.
According to RTÉ, the school traffic wardens reported of being spat at, sworn at, and struck by vehicles while at work.
School traffic wardens, who are employed by local authorities, help primary school children safely cross the road and have the authority to stop traffic when required.
School traffic wardens can only stop vehicles only a public road if they are wearing the appropriate uniform and showing the proper sign.
Speaking to RTÉ, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) said it was "deeply concerned" after learning the experiences of lollipop people in Ireland.
