The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has recalled products containing sesame seeds from various shops after the products were found to contain salmonella. The effected products include Dunnes Stores Baxter and Greene salads and prepackaged foods, and Supervalu and Gem sesame seeds. The packaged sesame seeds removed from other stores includes the SuperValu Sesame Seeds 200g and the Compania Indilor Orientale Susan Sesame Seeds 50g batch and Gem sesame seeds. The FSAI have published batch numbers of all effected products and consumers are urged to return the items if they have recently purchased the items. The illness usually lasts for up to a week according to the FSAI, with symptoms becoming extreme enough to warrant hospitalisation in some cases.
