Applicant Mr George Foster brought forward plans to create a free-range 39500 bird egg unit. The local authority approved plans, under the condition that no external construction work, site clearance or preparation works shall take place before 8am or after 6pm Monday to Friday, before 8am or after 1pm on Saturday and not at any time on a Sunday or on a Scottish Bank Holiday. Documents with the planning proposals said: "The applicant, Mr George Foster, operates a mixed agricultural enterprise based at Taiglim Farm. "Mr Foster has one son and are both keen farmers however the farm cannot sustain employment of two families and this opportunity will deliver the necessary financial opportunities and indeed the chicken manure waste to aid in their land fertilisation. "This development represented a significant step in the farm's diversification strategy, responding to increasing demand for higher-welfare agricultural products and offering long-term security for the farm."
