‘It takes a while for people to catch up’: Plibersek downplays Labor’s lowest primary vote poll since Gillard era

The Labor Party has downplayed concerns it is struggling after its primary vote fell to its lowest level since Julia Gillard was prime minister in 2013.
The latest polls revealed a 29 per cent primary vote for the Labor Party.
That is a significant decline for the party, which recorded a primary vote as high as 37 per cent primary vote before the Bondi Beach terror attack in December of 2025.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese still remains well in the lead for preferred prime minister at 46 per cent, with Pauline Hanson trailing behind in second place at 31 per cent.
