PostSource: New Zealand GovernmentA new child and youth mental health and addiction service that will make it easier for young people and their families to access the right support has been officially launched in Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes, Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey says. The service supports children and young people aged 5 to 24 years across Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes district, with self-referrals as well as referrals from schools, GPs and community organisations. Mr Doocey says Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes was prioritised because it is one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing regions, with a growing number of young families. “During its first three months of operation, 80 referrals have already been received, with every young person receiving support from the team. “The early response demonstrates the value of having a dedicated point of connection for children, young people and their families and is already helping ensure people are connected to the right support at the right time.
