Guntur: Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was giving top priority to the development and empowerment of tribal communities across the country. Addressing the World Tribal Day celebrations organised by the Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Department at Sankaran Mini Hall in the Collectorate here on Sunday, Dr. Pemmasani said the government had been implementing several measures to improve the living conditions of tribal people, particularly those residing in remote and inaccessible areas. He added that plans had also been prepared to construct roads in remote tribal areas during the second phase at an estimated cost of Rs. Dr Pemmasani recalled the contributions of legendary tribal freedom fighters, including Birsa Munda and Manyam Veerudu Alluri Sitarama Raju, who fought for the rights and welfare of tribal communities. The Union Minister assured the tribal community that he would take necessary steps to address their problems and improve basic amenities in tribal areas.
