Visakhapatnam: For generations, people of North Andhra waited for a dedicated railway zone, pinning hopes that it would unfold faster development, better connectivity and greater opportunities for the region. Following the establishment of the new railway zone with the support of the Central government, the long-cherished dream has now become a reality. Nearly 170 up-and-down train services operate along the corridor, resulting in around 350 train movements every day. Mathur informed that inputs had already been collected from different railway divisions and consultations were being held with other railway zones. For the people of Uttarandhra, creation of the railway zone is therefore not the end of a decades-old struggle but the beginning of a new chapter.
