Vijayawada: The coalition government is committed to ensuring welfare, development and dignity of tribal communities and enabling them to live with self-respect, said Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani. She said best available schools and colleges of excellence are being established to provide quality education and accommodation to tribal students. The Minister said the government had restored 18 tribal welfare schemes scrapped by the previous government and was strengthening Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs). Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) said several programmes were being implemented for tribal welfare and development. Tribal Welfare Department Secretary M Mallikarjuna Naik said Rs 1,353 crore had been allocated for tribal education, benefiting 1.63 lakh students.
