(The Center Square) -(The Center Square) - The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case that could determine the future of legal actions over energy companies' contributions to climate change. The case, based out of Colorado, could determine whether local and state governments can make financial claims against international energy companies for contributing to climate change. Michael Greve, a law professor at George Mason University, said he is concerned about how the high court will approach the case. Greve said he hopes the high court will not leave the decision up to Congress. Justices on the high court will hear arguments in the case on Oct. 5 and are expected to issue a decision by June 2027.
