FARGO — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a man who died in a north Fargo crash after fleeing police.
Damion Proffit, 35, Fargo, fled police after midnight Saturday, Aug. 8, after Fargo police attempted to stop him as he was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado in the 700 block of Broadway North, according to a news release.
Shortly after police canceled the traffic stop, Proffit crashed his pickup in the 1500 block of Dakota Drive near North Dakota State University, the release said.
“Debris from the Silverado struck an unoccupied Honda Element, causing extensive damage to the Honda.”
Proffit died at the scene of the crash, according to state troopers.
