Ethan Dewhirst finished fifth in the 400m hurdles final at the World Athletics U20 Championships. The Tir Chonaill AC athlete went over 10 barriers at the famous Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon in 51.05 seconds. Dewhirst ran brilliantly in the inside lane, pushing from seventh on the final bench to an excellent fifth down the home straight. In June, the Donegal 400m hurdles record went back-and-forth across the Dewhirst kitchen table. That time in Malaga gave him a second qualification standard for these World U20s too, having previously hit 50.81 at the Loughborough Open.
