4 provided the clearest look yet at Texas’ defense, with the defensive line dominating and making life difficult for Arch Manning and the offensive line. Rasheem Biles had a quieter practice, but much of that was simply a product of the defensive line controlling the action. Spencer Shannon also reminded everyone that he can be a legitimate receiving threat at tight end, making several plays despite the difficulty of blocking Texas’ defensive front. He did some good things early and showed his ability to extend plays, including a decently long run, but the defensive line consistently disrupted the offense. There’s plenty more on Manning, the offensive line, Texas’ defensive rotation and what the emergence of this defensive front could mean heading into the season.
