Former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum was taken back into custody in Baldwin County, Alabama, on Thursday, Aug. 6, following an alleged missed drug screening and a subsequent positive test for methamphetamine.
The arrest comes roughly a month after the 47-year-old former Florida gubernatorial nominee was initially taken into custody on July 2 in Daphne, Alabama.
Andrew Gillum (BCSO)Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney John Oxford stated that Gillum failed to report for a scheduled drug screening and subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine during a court appearance on Thursday.
Court documents indicate references to drug court, a rehabilitation-focused diversion program for first-time drug offenders that can lead to the dismissal of charges upon successful completion.
No charges were filed in that matter, and Gillum denied using methamphetamine, later entering treatment for alcoholism.
