THE Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform said it welcomed the inclusion of agriculture bills boosting extension services and reestablishing a cooperatives bureau for the sector among the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority measures.
1991, or the proposed Agricultural and Fisheries Extension Services Act, gives the agricultural sector technical assistance and climate-adaptive farming methods.
1990 or the proposed Agricultural Cooperatives Act, aims to ensure the security, health, medical and social insurance of farmers and fisherfolk while also capacitating them to efficiently organize themselves.
The Senate passed both of the bills on third and final reading with 21 affirmative votes on July 28.
As LEDAC priority bills, the measures are expected to be enacted by June 2027.
