BPI reconsiders timing of blue bond issue

BANK of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is still deciding on the timing of a blue bond issuance it earlier planned to do this year as market conditions remain volatile.
It’s probably more likely next year than this, but that’s not a firm decision yet,” BPI Chief Financial Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer Eric M. Luchangco said in a Viber message.
He also said last week that the bank may still offer peso-denominated bonds this year, but a blue-themed issuance is not guaranteed.
Mr. Luchangco said earlier this year that the bank has P50 billion in assets or water-related investments it can finance under its blue bond framework.
The bank last tapped the domestic market in January, raising P50 billion from its two-year Supporting Individuals Grow, Lead, and Achieve or SIGLA Bonds.
