The United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is expected to visit Guyana to expand bilateral cooperation and discuss investment opportunities between the two countries. According to the Department of State, Landau will travel to Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana from August 9 to 12, 2026. “In Guyana, Deputy Secretary Landau will meet with President Irfaan Ali and cabinet members to discuss expanding bilateral economic cooperation and strengthening bilateral investment opportunities. The visit will also focus on enhancing collaboration in strategic sectors including energy and critical minerals,” the State Department said. Deputy Secretary Landau’s visit underscores the United States’ commitment to strengthening partnerships across our hemisphere and advancing shared priorities, including regional security, energy resilience, and economic prosperity, the State Department said in a brief statement today.
