Latest saga for pub embroiled in years-long planning battle over awning

The Park View pub in Brighton, which was previously ordered to remove an unauthorised awning after losing a planning appeal, has now won permission to install three giant parasols in its place.
Brighton and Hove City Council has approved plans for three "jumbrellas" at The Park View, in Preston Drove, ending a long-running planning dispute over covered seating on the pub's outdoor terrace.
The latest application, submitted by Mitchells & Butlers Retail Limited, sought permission to erect three large parasols on the customer terrace at the front of the pub.
The structure was later the subject of a retrospective planning application after the council was alerted to its existence.
Council planning officers concluded that the new proposal was significantly less harmful than the awning that was refused.
