MTN Nigeria has warned millions of its subscribers against fraudulent online promotions offering free 25GB data purportedly as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration. MTN said the legitimate 25GB anniversary offer is available exclusively through its official platforms — the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop. The company urged customers to ignore websites, social media accounts and other third-party platforms promoting the offer. “Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online,” the company said. The warning has also triggered reactions among MTN customers, some of whom expressed concern over the growing number of fake promotions circulating online.
