Spread the wordWorld Athletics has stripped Nigeria of the African and national under-20 records in the mixed 4x100m relay after the team was disqualified at the U-20 Championships in Oregon, USA for using unauthorised spikes. The quartet of Tejiri Godwin, Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo, Perfect Faye and Miracle Ezechukwu clocked 41.77 seconds to finish fourth in the final in Eugene, Oregon. The performance initially stood as both an African and Nigerian U-20 record. Italy won gold in a world under-20 record of 41.21 seconds, followed by Great Britain (41.38) and the United States (41.39). The disqualification means Nigeria loses both the continental and national junior records set in the event.
