Browne Says Some Women Help Glamorize ‘Bad Man’ CulturePrime Minister Gaston Browne says some women in Antigua and Barbuda appear attracted to so-called “bad men,” contributing to what he described as the celebration of criminal behaviour in society.
Speaking Saturday on the Browne and Browne Show, Browne made the comments while calling for tougher action against repeat offenders involved in gun violence, narcotics and other serious crimes.
“Even our women, for example, some of them seem to love a so-called bad man,” Browne said.
The prime minister said such behaviour appears to be celebrated in some sections of society, making it more difficult to discourage young people from pursuing criminal lifestyles.
Browne maintained that people who repeatedly commit serious offences must face longer prison sentences to protect the public, although he also voiced support for rehabilitation where possible.
