Prime Minister Gaston Browne is urging residents to help authorities get illegal guns off the streets by confidentially reporting friends, relatives or neighbours known to possess them.
Speaking on his weekly radio programme over the weekend, Browne said information provided by members of the public has already led to the recovery of several firearms.
He reminded residents that a long-standing programme offers cash rewards for information leading authorities to illegal weapons, while protecting the identities of informants.
Browne said reducing violence will require an “all-of-society approach,” including stronger cooperation between residents and law enforcement.
