The Super Falcons have been eliminated from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in the quarter-finals on SundayNigeria’s loss also means the defending champions have missed out on an automatic qualification spot for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The goal was Nyadjou’s first of the tournament and proved enough to send Cameroon into the semi-finals, where they will face hosts Morocco in Rabat on Wednesday. The victory also secured Cameroon a place at next year’s World Cup. Nigeria, the record 10-time WAFCON champions, pushed hard for an equaliser as the game entered its final stages, but Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina repeatedly stood in their way with a series of impressive saves.
