Belize City Marches in Blue for Child ProtectionBelize City saw a wave of blue this morning as dozens of Belizeans marched in support of children and young people affected by abuse. Organizers say the message is simple but urgent: child abuse cannot be treated as a private matter, and everyone has a role to play in helping to prevent it. This is specifically sexual abuse against children. I also want to say that, in response to the increase of reports that the ministry has hired seven new child services officers to be able to respond. The ministry will hire twenty-one new child services officers and four additional supervisors over the next three years to help manage over one thousand new child protection cases reported annually.
