COMMENTARY: DEC should remove the fence on the Adirondack Rail Trail

The Adirondack Rail Trail has already proven itself to be an extraordinary economic engine.
The benefits are evident in Tupper Lake and Lake Placid, where trail access is encouraged and celebrated.
So why should Saranac Lake businesses be cut off from that same opportunity?
The Adirondack Rail Trail was never intended to be merely a recreational amenity.
(These are needed at other crossings too, not just in Saranac Lake but in Lake Clear, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid and a number of the other crossings along the trail).
