Tripura Government to Address Electricity Bill Issues Amid Opposition Protests

Agartala, August 10: Amid ongoing protests by opposition parties, including CPI(M) and Congress, against hefty electricity bills, the BJP-led government in Tripura has announced plans to address consumer grievances.
Electricity Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated that the government is committed to resolving public complaints and will soon make decisions regarding issues related to electricity bills.
The minister mentioned that discussions have already taken place with Chief Minister Manik Saha, Finance Minister Pranjit Singha Roy, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary, and Electricity Secretary regarding several issues related to TSECL.
Nath clarified that the recent increases in fixed charges, fuel, and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPC) and energy charges were made by the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission (TERC).
However, he assured that the government has discussed the matter in detail and will take appropriate steps to address consumer issues.
