Losing market shareIAG posted an operating profit of €1.41 billion (US$1.62 billion) in the second quarter. Despite a 25% decline from the first quarter, this result was significantly higher than the €1.37 billion analysts had expected. The company’s passenger business remained the main driver of growth, with passenger unit revenues up 8.9% for the quarter. Over in Frankfurt, Lufthansa Cargo contributed €116 million to its parent company’s balance sheet in fiscal Q2 (up 58% year-over-year). Brussels Airlines was set to receive two additional A330-200 passenger aircraft from parent Lufthansa, complementing its existing fleet of eleven long-haul aircraft, which were to be operated primarily on African routes.
