Birmingham Airport has faced a wave of complaints this weekend after a fault in its baggage handling system left large numbers of outbound passengers without their suitcases. The airport confirmed on Saturday that the fault was still unresolved, though technical staff were on site attempting a fix. One passenger, travelling to Turkey with her family, said none of their luggage had been placed on the aircraft. In response, Birmingham Airport said one airline had reached out to all customers affected by the fault, and that other companies were also working to return delayed bags to their owners. Separately, some services from Bristol Airport are being rerouted through Birmingham after a defect in Bristol’s runway forced flights there to be suspended.
