Shirley Southern, 45, of Wepre Park, Connah’s Quay, pleaded guilty on May 21 to causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving. Tegwen Owen was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the two-vehicle crash on the A470 at Trawsfynydd, Blaenau Ffestiniog at about 4pm on August 25, 2025. Southern, who was driving a Nissan vehicle at the time of the crash, was sentenced to a 18-month community order at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on Wednesday (August 5). Southern is to complete five days of rehabilitation activity requirements and 200 hours of unpaid work, and was disqualified from driving for 14 months. This amounted to a total payment of £199, to be paid in full by Wednesday, September 2.
