The now six-foot athlete showed promise at an early age and so found himself among older competitors quite early on. “Ashleigh and I loved it and we progressed quite quickly, so I was in with her and older swimmers at Peebles, some four or five years older,” Aaron explained. Now 28, he has moved on from swimming and, as he prepares for his final year of youth competition, Aaron wants to emulate his fellow Peeblean. “Gregor was someone I looked up to all my career, a swimmer from Peebles who went to the Commonwealth Games. I want to do that and to help inspire young kids to believe that they can too.
