The crash happened at 11.54am on Sunday, August 9, on the M3 westbound between junctions 8 and 9, causing major delays. A spokesman for Hampshire Police said: "We were called at 11:54am today (Sunday 9 August) to reports of a four-vehicle RTC on the M3 Westbound between junction 8 and junction 9. Traffic was stationary for hours on the M3 following a four-vehicle crash. At around 3.30pm, National Highways announced that all lanes had reopened but drivers could see residual delays of up to 55 minutes and five miles of congestion. The section is part of the ongoing M3 Junction 9 improvement project, which includes widening the junction and is forecast to be complete by 2030.
