It was first reported that fire services were called to a large fire at Godshill Inclosure at around 2:30pm on Saturday, August 8. Crews from across Hampshire, backed by Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, tackled the blaze throughout the afternoon and evening. On Sunday, August 9, fire services said a small team had stayed at the site and made 'good progress' throughout the morning. Firefighters will stay at the scene to damp down hotspots and prevent the fire spreading.
