Best indoor saunas to bring the spa into your home, tested by a wellness expert
['Emilie Lavinia']
The Standard
★★★★★Best: Overall at-home saunaWhat we love: Added red light, PEMF mat base, low EMF, and no sweating into clothesTake note: Takes up a lot of space and bulbs become hotCombining four different therapies including FAR infrared heat, PEMF, red light (660nm) and near infrared light (850nm), Bon Charge’s sauna dome is a serious bit of kit.
The idea behind this is that pulsed electromagnetic field therapy can be used for relaxation, wound healing and recovery alongside the infrared heat from the sauna.
Unlike a sauna blanket, which one uses clothed, the idea is to preheat the dome and then use it naked, like you would a traditional sauna.
I found this a far more pleasant experience than sweating into my clothes, and it allowed the red light inside the dome to reach the skin.
However, using the towel insert is a must; otherwise, you’re liable to sweat all over the PEMF mat base, which alone is £599.
