Stratford Sharks Swimming Club member Katy Halford is gearing up for her biggest event to date – a charity swim across the English Channel. I’ve never done anything like in terms of fundraising before, it’s a whole new experience for me as is the open water swimming. “A lot of open water swimming is applying your general swimming knowledge anyway, but a lot of the training is swimming in freezing cold lakes,” she said. Katy swims three to four times a week at Stratford Swimming Club and has been training for this event since February. Whilst there is no time limit on the swim, Katy hopes the team can get to France in around 11 hours.
