Reference date for J&K likely to be Mar 1ARVIND SHARMAJAMMU Tawi, Aug 09: The government of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has declared 16 out of the UT’s 20 districts as partially snow-bound areas for the upcoming Census 2027 and as such special arrangements and preparations are being made for conducting census operations in these districts. Meanwhile, sources said that the reference date for J&K census is most likely to be 1st of March and the census is most likely to be completed by the end of February next year. He further said that the preparations for the census have been given final shape in the snow-bound areas. In the snow-bound areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the census will be conducted according to a special schedule at the national level. “The Census 2027 will provide an important data on Jammu and Kashmir’s population structure, rural and urban population, housing, education and other socio-economic indicators,” Director, Census Operations of J&K Ladakh, said.
