Srinagar, Aug 9: Commuters on the Baramulla-Uri national highway faced considerable inconvenience on Sunday after the road at Danakha Mode remained closed beyond the scheduled reopening time, despite authorities ordering the restriction only until 5 pm. The highway was closed from 7 am to 5 pm to facilitate hill-cutting work at Danakha Mode and to prevent any untoward incident amid apprehensions of landslides. However, commuters alleged that the road was not reopened even after 5 pm, leaving scores of vehicles stranded along the highway. Several commuters said that the highway continued to remain closed even around 6:30 pm. “Safety during hill-cutting work is important, but commuters should also be kept informed.
