In “From Colonial to Pluriversal: Leadership Narratives and the Evolution of ISTR as a Global Research Organization”, Ruth Phillips and Mario Aquino Alves (both ISTR former presidents) examined ISTR’s institutional trajectory. The organization also seems increasingly willing to examine its own history and the inequalities embedded in international knowledge production. Perhaps, then, ISTR’s pluriversal turn should not be understood as a destination. Seen from Latin America, ISTR has travelled a long way. The exciting (and difficult) part is recognising how much further a genuinely pluriversal research community can still go.
