NELLORE: Tirupati police traced and recovered a mobile phone worth Rs 73,000 within a short time after a medical student accidentally left it in an autorickshaw, using CCTV surveillance and technology. S. Sumalatha Reddy, a Bengaluru student pursuing medicine in Russia, travelled by auto from Tirupati RTC bus stand to Bhavaninagar Circle around 2.50 pm on Sunday. After getting down, she realised that she had left her phone in the vehicle and alerted the police command control room. He was asked to bring it to the command control room, where it was handed over to Sumalatha Reddy in the presence of CI O. Ramachandra Reddy. Police said the incident highlighted the effective use of CCTV surveillance and technology in addressing public grievances and urged citizens to contact 112 for emergency assistance.
