Vijayawada: The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched in Guntur on Sunday to encourage people to hoist the national flag at their homes as part of the Independence Day celebrations. Union minister of state for rural development and communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar launched the campaign with a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga–Tiranga Yatra’ from Venkateswara Vignana Mandir to North Centre. A large number of people, along with BJP, Telugu Desam and Jana Sena leaders and workers, participated in the rally. He said the sacrifices of freedom fighters should inspire efforts to create better opportunities for the youth and future generations. Guntur MLA Mohammed Naseer Ahmed said every citizen should uphold the country’s heritage and remember the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle.
