Vijayawada:The Pattiseema water is proving a lifeline for crops amid a severe rainfall deficiency caused by El Niño conditions, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Sunday, directing officials to ensure efficient water management. The Chief Minister observed the barrage brimming with Godavari water and said the abundant inflows had made it look particularly pleasant. Officials informed him that 17.52tmc of Godavari water had so far been diverted into the Krishna through the Pattiseema, the current season. They also said Around 521 tmc ft of Godavari water had flown into the sea due to heavy inflows from upstream areas. With Pattiseema supplying adequate Godavari water, irrigation releases were being made through various canals downstream of the barrage for crops in the Krishna delta.
